I haven’t shared my audible TBR in a really long time, so I thought I should do it now. I don’t listen to many audible books, not because I don’t like this – because I love them. But because I don’t get much time too. I normally read on my phone or a physical book when I catch the train to and from work. I find it much harder to listen to something on public transport and then when I’m home, I barely have time to read anything.
But as I said I do love them, so here are some of the books that are currently on my audible tbr. I have a range of books from fantasy to young adult and even some nonfiction. I also did share my Libro.FM tbr recently as well if you want to check that out. Anyway, let’s get into this, like always these are in no order.
The Mothers by Brit Bennett narrated by Adenrele Ojo | Not That Bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture by Roxanne Gay | Wolf Hall (Thomas Cromwell #1) by Hilary Mantel narrated by Simon Slater
Waking Gods (Themis Files #2) by Sylvain Neuvel and Cast | Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold (Stephen Fry’s Great Mythology #1) by Stephen Fry | Fight Like A Girl by Clementine Ford
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers #1) by Becky Chambers narrated by Patricia Rodríguez | The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid | Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds, Ibram X. Kendi
And there we go those are some of the books on my audible tbr. Have you read or listened to any of these? What did you think of them? Are you planning to? Let’s Chat!
This week I’m sharing some of my favourite quotes that just melt me. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.
I love quotes! Sometimes I’m reading a book and a line just hits me hard and I have to step back and take it all in. Sometimes the quotes make me cry and there are times where I can’t stop laughing. So in this week’s TTT, I’m sharing the quotes that make me melt from some of the books that I love. Like always these are in no order. Let’s go!
“I will have you without armor, Kaz Brekker. Or I will not have you at all.”
― Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
“You’re in my every breath and every thought, intertwined so deep inside me that love’s not a strong enough word—you have my devotion, your name branded on my soul, my wolf yours to command. A hundred years? It’ll never be enough. I want eternity.”
― Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling #10) by Nalini Singh
“If you let them see your heart, do not complain when they tear it apart.”
― A King so Cold by Ella Fields
“Because I love you,” he said, the words coming out of him in a rush. “Because you were brave yesterday, and I was an ass, and you deserve better. I was afraid to tell you how I felt, I was afraid I couldn’t be the person you think you see in me—but you deserve someone who isn’t afraid. Because I’ve spent the past six years trying not to think about David, about all the ways that I’m not measuring up to him, about all the ways I’m still angry with him—and you’ve made me realize it’s all right. I feel like… like Jeremy again when I’m around you. And it feels like that’s enough.”
― To Love and to Loathe by Martha Waters
“And sometimes focusing on what you can control is the only way to lessen the pang in your chest when you think about the things you can’t.”
― With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
“Love is not always a lightning bolt. Sometimes it is a creeping vine. It grows slowly until suddenly it is all that there is in the world.”
―Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare
“Just let me love you, December, because I can’t stop anyways. I’ve been at your mercy since I was eighteen.”
―Full Measures by Rebecca Yarros
“You’re too precious to put into words. I think … it’s like one of Theodore’s buttons. If you asked him why he cared about them so, he would tell you it’s because they exist at all.”
― The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune
“That’s the choice. I love him, with all that, because of all that. On purpose. I love him on purpose.”
―Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
“I didn’t mean to send love letters, but that is what they became. On their way to you, my words turned into heartbeats on the page.”
―Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas
And there we go, those are some of my favourite quotes that make me melt. Have you read any of these books? what did you think of them? What are some of your favourite quotes? Let’s Chat!
Hi everyone, it’s Ely here and for today’s monthly post I’m going to be talking about the different places I’m travelling to this week…in books. Of course, international travel is still not happening so I thought I’d take this week to try something a little different!
I bought this one very recently, actually while I was out with Angel. It’s not my usual sort of book—it’s an adult historical literary fiction with maybe some kind of fantastical or magical realism elements, but it sounds amazing. I won’t lie—it was the cover that originally drew me into this one, but it’s also set in Scotland. I think Scotland is an amazing setting for historical fiction—there’s just something so mysterious and atmospheric about it. Of course, it’s also a gorgeous place in real life as well. Since it’ll probably be years before I can get back to Scotland for a visit, I’m instead using this as a way of escaping there!
One of my absolute favourite places in the world is Cornwall. I was lucky enough to live there for a few months back in 2015/2016 and so it will always have a special place in my heart. And of course, no one writes Cornwall better than Daphne du Maurier. I’ve read most of her books now, and this is one of the last ones that I currently own that remains unread. It’s also currently the oldest book on my TBR so I’m really looking forward to getting around to this one this week if for nothing other than finally taking it off my TBR.
Getting to go into space right now feels about as likely as getting to go anywhere else, so I’m counting this one! This is actually part of a challenge/project thing I’m doing that is scheduled to go live later in June over on my channel, so I really need to get to this one before it’s too late. I really don’t know what to expect with this one. It’s honestly been a while since I picked up any sci-fi books, or even watched anything so I guess we’re about to find out whether it’s a genre I still enjoy or not. Stay tuned for my thoughts on this one.
And that’s all from me this month. I hope you’re all doing super well, and I’ll see you all for my monthly post in June!
