Episode Reviews: Season 1 | Season 2

Jace and Clary rush to make a final stand, but when a traitor is revealed, Jace and Clary may have a bigger fight on their hands than expected. Meanwhile, Alec and Izzy must fight off a large mass of demons that have unexpectedly shown up, as Luke and Simon head to the Seelie Court to deal with some unfinished business with the Seelie Queen.

Beside Still Water:

Wow, what a way to finish the season. It was intense, kept me on the edge of my seat and left me wanting more. It was heart-stopping until the credits started rolling.

Beside Still Water starts off from episode 19 and if you thought things were intense then – well it’s 10 times that now. Clary and Jace are still on the lookout for Valentine trying to stop him from finding the mortal mirror. While Izzy and Alec must try and stop more demons coming into the mundane world. With the little help from a certain warlock.

Clary

Again this episode had a big focus on Clary’s character development and I loved it. In Beside Still Water, Clary has to again find her place in this world of demons, downworlds and shadowhunters. We see her take charge of her powers and herself.

I really loved the scene between her and Valentine, towards the end of the episode. We not only got to see what she can do as a shadowhunter, but what she can do when those she loves is in trouble.

Jace

I can’t say much about Jace without spoiling what happens in the episode – but man was it good. Like Clary we get to see Jace’s character development in this weeks episode and I cannot wait to see what next season brings.

Clary and Jace

In last weeks episode we see Clary and Jace give into each other, but in Beside Still Water we really get to see them connect and let themselves go with one another. It was sweet and heartbreaking at the same time to see.

Alec and Izzy

We really get to see the sibling bond between Izzy and Alec in this weeks episode. Throughout both season 1 and 2 – we see their love for each other, but in the midst of all this tension and knowing that they might not live. Thier strength together stood strong.

Alec and Magnus

For the second half of season 2, there has been a lot of tension between Alec and Magnus and while it hurts like hell. It needed to happen. We needed to see yes, they are different. They are two very different people that come from different sides of the same world.

We see them overcome trails, and hurt. I love them together and they always put a smile on my face.

Overall

I loved the season finale of Shadowhunters. It was fast paced, intense and kept me hanging to the last second – literally. There were similar themes to the books and I really enjoyed that. I loved seeing Clary and Jace together, Alec and Izzy going siblings crazy.

I am so excited to see what season 3 brings – I have no idea what to expect and with that ending, all I know is that it’s going to hit the roof.

Running Time: 42 minutes
Starring Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Will Tudor, Isaiah Mustafa, Harry Shum Jr.

Episode Reviews: Season 1 | Season 2

With Valentine and Sebastian on the loose, the Downworlders come together to make a surprising choice.

Hail and Farewell:

With only one more week to the season finale, things are definitely getting intense. After last weeks episode, I knew that everyone in the Insitute will be on edge. Actually not just in the institute, but the whole of the shadow world.

With Valentine and Sebastian still on the loose, everyone is out there to find them or kill them. Clary finds a way to track them, while tension is still high between Magnus and Alec. The downworlders are making hard decisions.

Clary

I felt that Hail and Farewell was a really big episode for Clary. Throughout the series so far we make her way through the shadow world, navigate her news skills and angel powers, and all the ups and downs.

Clary had to really stand up for herself and those she has come to love in Hail and Farewell. She had to harness her both her angel powers and those she has had to learn as a shadowhunter. I really enjoyed Clary in this episode. I loved her strength and her power.

Clary and Jace

We get a really powerful moment between these two in Hail and Farewell and I am terrified to see what is come with these two. I really felt the chemistry between the two in this episode, especially in that particular scene.

I also liked that we got to see a different side of both Clary and Jace. We get to see them connect and really show their feelings.

Magnus and Alec

There is still lots of tension between Magnus and Alec, and we could really feel in Hail and Farewell.  It’s still very raw and real and I liked how this tension was portrayed.

Their relationship shows the difference between shadowhunters and downworlders. It shows the tension, the different way that they are treated and the hierarchy.

Sebastian

Things are getting worse and worse with Sebastian. We see how angry, crazy and how the demon blood has changed him.

There was this amazing scene with Jace and Sebastian that was just so good to watch! My eyes were glued to my screen and I loved it.

Shadowhunters

There were some amazing fight scenes in Hail and Farewell. I loved how Jace and Alec worked together, as well as Izzy and Clary. I loved seeing the shadowhunters in action. It was fun, intense and made the episode that more interesting. I cannot wait to see what next season brings. I think it’s going to pretty epic.

Overall

Hail and Farewell, was intense and kept me waiting on the edge. There was tension everywhere we went and that just made it more interesting. I loved it. Clary and Jace, Magnus and Alec, Shadowhunters and downworlders. And that ending! Next week, is going to be crazy and I cannot wait.

Shadowhunters: Season 2 Episode 18

Episode Name: Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen
Release date: 31 July 2017
Running Time: 42 minutes
Starring Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Will Tudor, Isaiah Mustafa, Harry Shum Jr.

Episode Reviews: Season 1 | Season 2

After a devastating attack at The Institute, everyone is on high alert as the Shadowhunters close in on their hunt for Jonathan. Meanwhile, Simon and Maia help a new downworlder as the Seelie Queen demands an answer from Magnus and Luke.

Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen:

Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen was an intense episode. I thought after last week all hell was going to break lose and it sort of did. This week’s episode starts off with an intense scene with Max and Sebastian. But, when something interrupts them, everything is put on hold. And then Isabelle finds Max – unconscious. Now with the institute is high alert things are about to get interesting. Outside the institute the downworlders are starting to get antsy.

Max

Max again had a read big part in this episode, although it was unconscious for most of it. After being knocked out by Sebastian, and waking up hidden under Alec’s desk Max tries to make his way to Izzy’s room. And he only just makes it.

Although I hated seeing Max hurt, it was great to see the Lightwood family came together. They have been through so many ups and downs during both season 1 and 2. It was great to see everyone in the same room, not fighting and being there for Max.

The Mortal Mirror

The mortal mirror played a massive part in Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen. After last week, I was hoping my feelings about the mirror were right. What the mirror is plays such a big part in the books and I didn’t want that to be taken away.

I love Sebastian’s determination to get the mortal mirror. We really see how sick and horrible he can be. He will stop at nothing and I mean at nothing to get it. He was horrible at times, but that is also what made it so good! Sebastian is one of my favourite villains. He is so twisted and evil that he is a really interesting character to both watch and read.

Magnus and Alec

What an episode for these two. There are going to be some people saying ‘why did they do that?’ But, I think that they seem to forget how much they both went through before they were finally together for good.  They fought – a lot. They disagreed, they hurt each other. And I am glad that they are showing this in the show.

We are able to see that it’s not easy for two very different people, from two very different sides be together.  In Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen we see both Alec and Magnus struggle with one being a shadowhunter and the other a downworlder.

But we also get to see some really nice and beautiful moments between the two and it just so nice to see – but also very bittersweet.

Werewolves

We get to meet a very interesting character in this week’s episode and I nearly jumped out of my skin.

Also in Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen we see a side of the werewolves that we hadn’t before, a side of Maia that we hadn’t seen before. I read someone that we will be seeing Jordan next season and I am so ready to see what happens.

Overall

This episode kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t know what was going to happen next, I wanted to know what was going to happen next and I cannot wait to see where it goes. There were many ups and downs in Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen. And with only 2 episodes to go – I am so not ready.

Have you watched this week’s episode? What did you think of it? Nevertheless, Are you ready for what is to come? Let’s Chat!

April was a very good reading month for me, especi April was a very good reading month for me, especially after last month. I had some really fantastic reads in April. I did do a lot of re-reading this month but I had such blast. I re-read Caught Up and Play Along and the first 4 books in the Ironside Academy series. 📚

I read some books that I’ve been waiting for including the new book from Kels and Denise Stone, as well as the new Tessa Hale. ✨

Overall it was such a good month, lots of binge reading series and starting on some new authors. I’m so excited to see what May brings. 🖤

What was your favourite book that you read in April?

A little late but I am finally getting to share Ra A little late but I am finally getting to share Race 5’s Race Week Reads review. This week I read, Downforce (Pit Lane #1) by Hannah Lily.

🏎️ Review 🏎️

I had so much fun reading this book. I knew I was in for a ride as soon as I started Downforce. It was entertaining, fun, and I just had a good time reading it. And while it does explore some heavy topics, I don’t think it took away from the fun nature of the book.

Right from the start, we can see the tension between F1 Presenter, Olivia Fraser and F1 Driver, Jonah Scott. And while silly at times, it was fun seeing them interact together. Both really didn’t like each other. They both had said things about and to one another that sometimes it caused chaos. And I was here for it.

I did find that at times, just silly things happened. I am not a massive rom-com reader, and there was a lot of falling into one another, and arguments stemmed from nothing. This is honestly just because I don’t like these types of scenes, but it didn’t really make me dislike the book at all.

I loved the whole road trip aspect of the book, it’s different from other F1 books I’ve read so far this year and just made for some interesting banter and lust. I do wish that the road trip was a little longer than it was because I did feel like the romance moved pretty quickly here, but again, it didn’t really affect how much I was enjoying the book.

The romance was this combination of being slow burn and full of angst right at the start, to the road trip happening and then bam. But I loved it, though. The banter between Olivia and Jonah was fantastic. I loved seeing them grow not only with one another but with themselves as well.

Overall, I had a great time reading Downforce and will be continuing the series for sure when the other books come out. The romance was angsty and just felt right. The found family aspect really worked well here, and the F1 aspects were pretty okay. Not the best I’ve seen, but not the worst either. If you are looking for a fun read that has a great romance and a little rom-comy, then pick this one up.
I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. I’ve already had a pretty amazing reading year. There have been so many books that I have enjoyed but there are some that I have just loved. 🖤

I didn’t realise before I put this post together that all of these books are from authors I’ve read and loved before. There hasn’t been a Rebecca Yarros book that I haven’t rated under 4 Stars. Elsie Silver is just making me love everything that she writes. Wild and Wrangled may be my favourite in the series. 📖

Three rereads also made it to this list. Binding 13 still makes me gasp and smile all at the same time. And Caught Up and Play Along just hit every time. 📚

I’ve honestly had a great year so far and since making this post a few more books I’ve read I’ve ended up loving. It’s going to be hard to pick my favourites at the end of the year that is for sure. ✨

What books have you loved reading this year? Are any books that made my list on yours? Let me know!
