It’s time for another book tag. I haven’t done one of these in a while and I thought it would be a nice fun break from the other posts I’ve been doing. So today I’m doing the #NotAll Book Tag. This tag was created by The Orangutan Librarian, you can check the original post here.
This tag looks at some of the things that we as readers complain about the most. From the tropes, we hate to love, to our bookish pet peeves. This book tag looks at them in a new light. So let’s get right into it.
#NOTALL COVER CHANGES – A COVER CHANGE YOU LIKED
Ohh this is such an interesting one. There have been so many cover changes over the years that I have not liked at all. But there have also been quite a few that I have loved. And while I didn’t dislike the original cover of my pick here, I didn’t love it. But the new covers of the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer are just gorgeous. I love the colours, the art style. Everything really. It fits a new group of readers.
#NOTALL ADAPTATIONS – AN ADAPTATION YOU LOVE MORE THAN THE BOOK
There is probably going to be a lot of dislike with my answer here but it has to be The Lord of the Rings movies. So I have tried to read the books, I think four times now and I have never been able to get through them. This is so upsetting because I do love the movies, so much. And I want to love and read the series, but I just can’t. I will try again though.
#NOTALL TROPES – A TROPE YOU’LL NEVER TIRE OF SEEING
Oh, so so many. I love my romance tropes, oh so much. From hate to love, brother best friend/best friends brother, fake dating. I could be here forever listing all of my favourite tropes. This gives me an idea for a post that you may be seeing soon. But let’s just say, there aren’t many that I don’t enjoy.
#NOTALL INSTALOVE – YOU INSTALOVED THIS INSTACOUPLE
This one is hard for me, I’m not a massive fan of instalove, but as I’ve been reading more and more romances. I’ve come to like this trope or more instalust. Which I find even better. But I don’t despise a book because of it anymore. Some books that I have liked recent that have included this trope is the Necessary Evils series by Onley James. I have read the first four books now in this series and it is very instalovey, more insta obsession. But it’s oh so good. Also, One Night in Garoureve (The Shifters of Garoureve #1) by Elle M. Drew is also another one I loved.
#NOTALL LOVE TRIANGLES – AN EXAMPLE OF A LOVE TRIANGLE DONE WELL
Another thing that I dislike as much as insta love, if not more is love triangles. It’s one of the tropes that I rarely read because I love it so much. And with all the poly books I’ve read over the last year or so when I see a love triangle, I don’t want it. The only love triangle I’ve ever loved honestly is Tessa, Jem and Will from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.
#NOTALL PARENTS – BOOKISH PARENTS THAT, YOU KNOW, PARENT!
I am honestly so stuck here. I don’t know which to pick. I’ve been sitting here for the last twenty minutes trying to figure this out. A lot of the young adult I read/read honestly didn’t have any good parents. Or I can’t think of any now that would fit this. So I am just going to skip this one.
#NOTALL VILLAINS – A VILLAIN YOU LOVE
This one has to go to the Darkling from The Shadow and Bone Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. He is such an interesting villain, that not only has a fantastic character arc but interesting history. He went from this general that intrigued me, to a villain that had his hooks into me. I’m really excited for the new book coming out where we do get to know more about him.
#NOTALL CHOSEN ONES – A CHOSEN ONE YOU CAN GET BEHIND
This one really got me thinking. But in the end, it has be Percy Jackson that stands on top. I mean it’s Percy. What more can I say? I love this series with everything in me. It’s one that I never fail to recommend to kids at work. I want everyone to read it because it’s fantastic.
#NOTALL HYPED BOOKS – A BOOK THAT LIVED UP TO THE ACCLAIM
I haven’t really read many hyped books over the last few years, or they become hyped after. I’ve read them. But there are a few that stand out to me, one being The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I have so much love for this book. Everything in me just loves it. And it’s another one that I’m always recommending. You can check out a post I did on it back in 2018. Another book that deserves all the hype is the Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman. I don’t think I need to say too much, so just read it if you haven’t.
#NOTALL *INSERT FAVOURITE GENRE* – A BOOK YOU’RE NOT KEEN ON FROM YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE
Well, as I read mostly romance that is definitely my favourite genre. And I read a lot in this genre. And I mean a lot. Some good, some bad, but the ones I’m sharing today are the ones that weren’t for me. I had a lot of problems with The Words by Ashley Jade. With the problematic relationship being my main issue, my review goes into more detail. Diver’s Heart by K.A. Knight and Omega’s Obsession (Heat Haven Omegaverse #2) by Sarah Blue are another two that I wasn’t keen on.
#NOTALL *INSERT LEAST FAVOURITE GENRE* – A BOOK YOU LIKED FROM A GENRE YOU DON’T OFTEN READ
I don’t read enough graphic novels that is for sure. Even though I’ve loved nearly everyone I’ve read. I want to get onto treading more graphic novels that is for sure. So if you have any recommendations, please let me know. But one of the ones I loved reading was; Lore Olympus: Volume One (Lore Olympus Volumes #1) by Rachel Smythe and Punderworld, Volume 1 (Punderworld #1) by Linda Šejić. And let’s not forget one of my favourites Check, Please! Book 1: #Hockey (Check, Please! #1 (years 1-2)) by Ngozi Ukazu.
And there we go! I had so much fun doing this tag. Espeically since I haven’t done one in a while. I tag anyone that wants to do this tag and let me know when you do! Let’s Chat!
