It’s time for another book tag. You all know how much I love doing these. So today I’m doing The Rainbow Book Tag. I can’t seem to remember when I originally saw this tag, but it was created by Le Book Chronicles, who no longer blogs and the original post is no longer available. But I did see it recently when I was looking for tags over on ZeZee with Books. You can check out their post now.
So let’s get right into it. There are a few rules for this tag, they are;
- For each colour of the rainbow, pick your favourite book that’s cover matches that colour. If you can’t find a book that matches that colour, then you can pick a book that has that colour someone on the cover.
- The choices have to be books you own and/or have to be the exact edition you read.
And that’s it. So let’s go. As always these are in no particular order. But let’s have fun with these colours.
This one was one of the harder colours to find a book from, but I found something in the end. And while it isn’t the main colour it’s literally the extract colour match. And that is The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune.
You all know how much I love this book by now. But it’s a magical and profound novel that truly takes the reader on an experience. It explores family and the notion that sometimes you find them in unlikely ways. It’s about love, that isn’t just about blood family or falling in love.
This enchanting story is exceptional and breathtaking. It will make you smile and laugh and just feel safe.
I feel like I don’t talk about this book enough. But Full Measures (Flight & Glory #1) by Rebecca Yarros was one of the books that made me fall in love with romance books as a genre.
The romance in this one will knock you apart. You will cry and laugh and want them together forever. It’s one of those romances that I know will stick with me for a very long time.
It explores grief, and hurt and what it’s like to fall in love. It’s not an easy read, so just be warned. But I think it’s fantastic.
I could not do this post without including this author. But Neon Gods (Dark Olympus #1) by Katee Robert is the perfect book for this one. I love this book so much. This series so far really.
But this one sticks in my mind the most. I adore Hades and Persphone retellings and this one hits all those right spots but also stands out on its own.
It’s sexy, hot and demanding. I love the romance, the spiciness and the characters are just fantastic.
I have to give this one to Delilah Green Doesn’t Care (Bright Falls #1) by Ashley Herring Blake. This has become a recent favourite of mine normally don’t love contemporary romances that much. But this one just worked right from the start.
It’s not only so much fun to read. But also explores stepfamilies, and the trauma of parental death has on young children. And then coming to terms with everything as an adult.
It’s also sexy, and funny and just put this massive smile on my face. I’m really excited for the rest of the series. And purple is by far my favourite colour of the rainbow.
Another more recent favourite, Lilacs and Leather (Pack Saint Clair #1) by Thora Woods had to be picked for pink. I picked this book up on a whim and didn’t know what I was going to get and ended up loving it quite a bit.
This is a sweeter omegaverse romance that includes a well-established pack without an omega. And an omega that really isn’t looking for a pack.
This book is all sweet and fluffy but also deals with some harsh issues that not only get explored in this book but in the next one in the series as well.
This couldn’t be a post by me if I hadn’t mentioned this author yet. Everything for You (Bergman Brothers #5) by Chloe Liese has been one of my favourite books I’ve read so far this year.
I smiled the whole way through it and I didn’t want it to end. Oliver and Gavin were fantastic together and their character arcs were just spot on. This is a brilliant sports romance that highlights mental health and also explores changes in life.
One of the things I love about Chloe Liese is the way that she writes her characters and the way they deal with their health and disabilities. Just yes!
While this doesn’t have an ‘orange’ cover per se. It does have orange on it. Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling #10) by Nalini Singh is not only one of my favourite Nalini books. Byt one of my favourite books in this series.
I had been waiting for this couple, pretty much since they both entered the world. I waited and waited. and then their book happened and it didn’t disappoint. Not one bit.
It’s angsty and will tear you apart. But it will also make you cry and that is why I love this book so much.
If you haven’t read this series yet, please do it’s fantastic.
I may be pushing it with this one but I am going with it. Pestilence (The Four Horsemen #1) by Laura Thalassa.
I liked this series way more than I thought I would. And Pestilence started it off. This series is harsh and hard and it is a world where everything is pretty damn horrible. But the romances just gets me.
I love how messed up this world is. It makes for such a messy read where you don’t know who you want to vouch for. The romance is on the darker side, but I think that is why I did enjoy it so much. The rest of this series is fantastic too.
I think this is my favourite book in the series so After the Fall (The Fallen Men #4) by Giana Darling had to be my pick for black. This book will tear you apart. I cried so hard at times that it was hard to breathe. I mean I cry at a lot of things. But this book just is emotional.
I love that we get to go back to characters that we have loved before. The ones that started it all.
This one really turns the story for the whole series on its head. It changes so much.
This is a very dark romance and is not for everyone, but It Ain’t Me, Babe (Hades Hangmen #1) by Tillie Cole. While I say I really liked this series. It’s not a book you can say is enjoyable because some pretty horrible things happened throughout each book.
It’s dark, and heavy with many triggers that you will need to check before you dive into this series. But it’s an MC series that deals with issues such as SA, abuse, cults, torture and so much more. It’s harsh and hard. But will also pack a punch.
If you are wanting something very dark, and different then pick this up for sure.
I didn’t know I was going to like Lore by Alexandra Bracken as much as I did. I normally crave series in my young adult. But this one hits the spot. Do I wish there were more books? Yes? Does it need more? No.
It’s a really interesting twist on Greek Mythology and I enjoyed the way that the world worked here a lot. You can check out Ely’s and mine’s discussion to see us delve more into this.
But overall, I enjoyed the characters, the world, and the romance. And I liked the writing a lot. This book isn’t for everyone, but if you like political and court intrigue, with a slower plot, then this is for you.
Well, I couldn’t do this post without including at least one historical romance. And this one has to go to Daring and the Duke (The Bareknuckle Bastards #3) by Sarah MacLean.
This book is a true villain who meets his match and then falls in love story. The love interest has not only been the main villain for the first two books in this series but hates our protagonist with a passion. And then the passion turns into something different. And I love it.
This is not only a fantastic conclusion to the series but such a good historical romance.
I don’t think I need to say too much about this book. But if you haven’t read Heartstopper by Alice Oseman yet, please do.
This series, I can’t even begin to explain it. It’s fantastic and it will hit all the right spots. It’s emotional and fun. It will make you laugh and it will make you cry. But it will also just make you feel all warm inside.
This series also deals with a lot more issues other than just coming of age. It explores sexuality, and identity while also looking at mental health and more.
Just read it.
And there we go. That is the rainbow book tag done! Whoo. I had a lot of fun doing this tag and if you do this tag, let me know because I would love to check it out. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Would you like to do the rainbow book tag? Let’s Chat!
