It’s time for a new book tag. Today I’m doing the Creatures of the Night Book Tag. This was created by booktuber Katytastic. You can check out the original video over there. I first saw the tag over zezeewithbooks.
This tag is pretty simple, we are given a creature of the night and we get to share our favourite book that features that particular creature. This was such a fun tag, when I first started reading, I pretty much only read paranormal/fantasy, so this was fun. There is a mix of books here from young adult to romance and more. Let’s get right into it.
This is such a hard one for me because I used to read so many vampire romances. So many. But I have to go with a classic for me and that is the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I think vampires are my favourite creatures of the night, and Vampire Academy just hits differently.
This series will always be my favourite, I read it first when I was maybe 12/13 and it’s still burned into me. I’m want to try and do a re-read this year for sure.
Some other vampire books I’ve enjoyed are The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black and Their Vampire Queen series by Joely Sue Burkhart.
I’m going to take this one with a little liberty and also include all shifters. One of my favourite series that includes werewolves and other shifters is the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I know I have talked about this series often, but it’s just fantastic. The romances are fantastic, the characters are so good. And the plot of =not only each book but the series as a whole is addicting.
If you haven’t read this series, please pick it up. Some of my favourite books from this series are Slave to Sensation #1, Caressed by Ice #3, Branded by Fire #6, Play of Passion #9 and Kiss of Snow #10.
Some other werewolf/shapeshifter books I’ve enjoyed are Lost Wolf (Savage #1) by Mila Young and Rejected (Shadow Beast Shifters #1) by Jaymin Eve.
I actually can’t give a book for this one as I don’t think I’ve read any books with zombies. Horror books aren’t my thing and I haven’t seen any zombie books that have caught my eye either.
Ohh. I have to go with an older book for this one. Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) by Kendare Blake. I remember reading this one and absolutely loving it.
It’s dark, but also really light in certain ways. This was the first young adult book that I read like it and that was and still is interesting to me. I don’t think I’ve read many books since that have featured ghosts as part of their main story. I have read books that have ghosts in them. But nothing like Anna Dressed in Blood.
The closest book I have that does feature ‘ghosts’ that is on my tbr is Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune. But even that is pulling at strings.
Okay now, this is a big one. I’ve read many books about these types of creatures of the night per se. But again I would have to go with something that is a little older and that is Trial by Fire (Worldwalker #1) by Josephine Angelini.
I got taken away by this series when I read it. I loved it so much because it features witches that appear in different worlds and times. It’s fast-paced but filled with political intrigues, which I adore. If you haven’t read this series and you want to try some old school young adult. Pick this series up.
Other books that I have recently loved featuring witches are the Emerald Lakes series by Britt Andrews and Crow (Faeries of Oz #2) by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell, which features the Wicked Witch of the West.
I haven’t read too many fairy/fae books except the most popular as of yet. However, I have so many on my tbr that I am really excited about. So I am going to share a few books that are on my tbr. Savage Lands (Savage Lands #1) by Stacey Marie Brown is one that I have been waiting to read for a while now. I have my copy on the way to me at the moment. I’m so excited to read it.
Gild (The Plated Prisoner #1) by Raven Kennedy, Rhapsodic (The Bargainer #1) by Laura Thalassa and Promise of Darkness (Dark Court Rising #1) by Bec McMaster. Are other books currently on my tbr that I am looking forward to reading that features fae.
What are some books that you have loved that are about fae? Share some of your favourites.
This was again such a hard one. Because most of the books that have demons in them are also mostly have angels. With Angel’s being more of the main focus. But one book that comes to mind for me is Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #1) by Laini Taylor which I adore.
If you haven’t read this series and want something unique, beautifully written but also strange, pick this series up.
Again this is a series that doesn’t just feature demons but angels. But these two go hand in hand for the most part. Other books that I’ve enjoyed that feature demons are The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare or anything Cassandra Clare.
Well, I could have picked any of the books mentioned above, but some stand out a little more to me in regards to the angel side. Recently I read the first book in the Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, Angel Blood.
If you don’t know me by now I love Nalini and I’ve finally read another one of her series. It did take me a little while to get into but gosh was it good. I have the next 9 books so I can’t wait to read them.
Other books with Angels that I have enjoyed are Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee, Unearthly (Unearthly #1) by Cynthia Hand and Angel (Angel, #1) by L.A. Weatherly.
