Today I thought I would have a little fun and do a book tag. I haven’t done one of these in a while and I found this while I was watching some videos. The Birthstone Book Tag was created by Jay G – and you can check out her original video now. Let’s get right into it.
1. January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.
This is such a hard question. Because villains are dark and evil in so many different ways. But Hades in Neon Gods by Katee Robert is such an interesting one. It’s not someone that we would normally associate as a villain and that is what makes him so dark. I found it very interesting.
2. February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities… You can base this off of characters or choose the King of all books
I didn’t know what way to go with this question. So I decided to share one of my favourite books that include royalty in it. This has to be Ruined by Amy Tintera. I loved this book and series so much. If you haven’t read this series. I highly recommend that you do.
3. March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out – Name a ‘wishy washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower.
I honestly have no clue how to answer this one. I don’t even know who to pick.
4. April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well known
This is a really hard question to answer. Because it may not be well known in my circle on social media, but one someone else’s it is popular. But for this one, I am picking Lola & the Millionaires by Kathryn Moon. I just recently come upon this duo and series. And I adored it. If you have rh romances, then pick this one up.
5. May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well.
ohh. There could be so many characters that I could mention. But I recently read the Shadow Beast Shifters series by Jaymin Eve. And I think that Shadow and Mera are the perfect two characters for this. He is dark and moody, and she doesn’t shut up. I loved their banter, their love.
6. June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end
Rose from Vampire Academy. That is all I have to say. I really want to do a reread of this series, because I haven’t in a long time. But Rose is still one of my favourite characters of all time.
7. July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.
There are only a few of them. But I recently read Vows of a Mobster by Eva Winners. And I’m seriously not sure what even happened in this book. I’m so confused even now. It was like everything was thrown into it and then nothing was completed. This book just wasn’t for me.
8. August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.
This is another one for which I really struggled to pick someone. But I really enjoyed most of the supporting characters in The Mortal Instruments series over Clary. And this is big for me to say. I don’t dislike her or anything, but I just think that everyone else is better.
9. September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming effect on you.
Easy, this has to be The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. You should all know by now how much I love this book. And gosh does it make me happy and just smile. You can check out my review now.
10. October (OPAL): Iridescent – Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colours?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colourful?)
Worldwalker series by Josephine Angelini has to win this one. The AUS covers for this series are stunning and have a little sparky that just fits it so well.
11. November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.
Everyone. But one that I think about a lot is Xiomara Batista from The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. If you haven’t read this book or listen to it. I highly recommend that you do. It’s fantastic and makes me cry like a baby.
12. December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of
This is easy! I absolutely adored the friendship group in One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. They are fantastic and I couldn’t get enough of them. They all cared for one another. They took August in right away and made her feel like she was home. And they just made me smile. Check out my discussion for more.
And there we go. I hope you enjoyed this tag as much as I did. I haven’t done one of these in a while and this one was a lot of fun. I tag anyone that wants to do this.
Do you agree with my picks? What would you pick? So, let’s chat!
