This week I’m sharing my bookish pet peeves. Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and Bookish and is hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl.
I had a lot of fun today, even though I don’t have many bookish pet peeves it was great thinking about them all. As I said I don’t have a lot of bookish pet peeves. And some of those that I may have had 5 years ago are very different now. That’s for a few reasons, and one of them is that I’m a bookseller. I understand and know why some things happen. But enough of all this let’s go.
Unremovable Stickers on Books: This is one of my biggest pet peeves. I just don’t like it. Especially if it’s the middle of a series or covers the really pretty cover. It just makes me sad. I don’t mind stickers that I can remove.
Cover Changes in the Middle of a Series: This is another one that grinds my gears. I understanding changing covers maybe after the first book. Are you are recovering a whole series – once it has finished. But what I hate is when it changes after the third book. I can’t afford to rebuy the first few books, just so my series matches. It just frustrates me.

The Term ‘Over-Hyped.’: This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. What makes a book ‘over-hyped?’ Is it because people are talking about it. Or because you think the book isn’t good. But others enjoy it. It just makes sense to me. Just because you don’t like it, just because others don’t. That doesn’t mean that others can’t like it and talk about it. There I’ve said it.
Putting Down What People Read: I’ve been blogging for nearly 10 years now, as well as being a bookseller for nearly 5. And I don’t know how many times I see other people put down what others read. It makes me frustrating and angry and I just can’t. The past few years, I’ve slowly moved away from just reading YA to now reading mostly romance – and boy do I hear it a lot more. Just don’t do it.
The Disregard for Indie Books: This kind of goes along with the above comment. I’ve been reading indie books for some time now, but nearly all the romance books I’ve read this year have been indie. And the amount of hate, disregard and shameful comments people make about indie books and self-publishing is just frustrating.

And there we go. Those are some of my bookish pet peeves. As I said I don’t have too many. There might be more, but I literally cannot think of them at the moment.
What are your bookish pet peeves? Do we have any that is the same? Are you okay with some of the books on my list? Let’s Chat!
