Hello! It’s Ely from Earl Grey Books back again for my monthly guest post. If you’ve been a follower of Angel for a while you’ve probably realised that she loves the romance genre a lot—she then passed that onto me. I’m much more selective in my romance reading, so I thought it might be fun today to share some sub-genres of romance I haven’t really tried before.
MC
I know Angel has been reading a few of these more recently, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be for me. I think read one maybe four or five years ago, and didn’t really enjoy though that was before I really read any romance. I’m not really much of a contemporary romance reader, apart from the occasional ice hockey read.
Music/Celebrity
Again, I did read Maybe Someday a really long time ago and loved it at the time, but I just don’t think this genre would be for me either. I don’t know why that is, because I do like YA contemporaries that go with that sort of thing. All this being said I do have a few that I’d like to try, like the Hush Note series from Sarina Bowen, Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros, and the London Celebrities series from Lucy Parker.
Time Travel
Outlander is the extent of my experience with time travel romance. I have to admit though that I liked the TV series more than the first book, but that’s a whole other discussion. I do really want to try more of ten genre—I have an ebook copy of Love Beyond Time by Bethany Claire that I should definitely get to at some point soon.
Fantasy
Apparently, the theme here is having read one book in each genre before? So why not throw in a fantasy romance too. Like time travel, I do think I’d enjoy this. I love fantasy, I love romance—it would make sense that I’d love both, right? I would love some recommendations if anyone has any.
That’s my post for this month. I’ll see you all in November!
