Major Arcana:
Episode 7 of Shadowhunters consisted of fight scenes, intensity and banter.
Ep7 starts off with Clary (Katherine McNamara) telling Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) that she knows where the cup is; in the tarot cards…one problem, that last person that they know that had the cards was Dot. Magnus killed me in this scene – his lines and the delivery are perfect.
Luke (Isaiah Mustafa) then saves the days saying that he has the cards, expect that are back at his office.
Then there is Simon (Alberto Rosende), oh my poor Simon. All I want to do is hug him. Simon is currently feeling the effects of the vampire blood in his system and he thinks he is going quite crazy.
In Ep7 we get to see more of the mundane world in the form of Luke at police headquarters. I head said this before and I will say it again. I actually enjoy Luke as a police, it makes sense and it creates more tension between the shadowhunter world and the mundane world.
This episode really shines on Luke as a character. I loved Luke in the books – he was the father figure to Clary and cared for her. We could see in this episode those characteristics coming through. I am enjoying Isaiah Mustafa as Luke, his acting is quite good and the way that he is portraying Luke; spot on.
Also in Ep7 we see more tension building in the Lightwoods family. Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) has had a change in persona and while I don’t like why she did per say, I am glad she did. I wasn’t too fond of the clothing she was wearing in the first couple of episodes, she did look good in them, but I didn’t feel like they were Isabelle. However, she has changed because of things her mum said, and that kind of put me off.
Nevertheless, the banter between Isabelle and Alec (Matthew Daddario) was still strong. It’s one of my favourite things about the series. They just mash together as siblings effortlessly, and they crack up me. We also get to see how much they care so each other in this episode.
This is awesome banter between Clary and Jace in ep7 and some of it had me laughing on the floor. I love it.
In this episode more about shadowhunter world is revealed. We have the introduction to more runes and its fun. We also see more demons and it was done in an intense way, but I enjoyed it.
There were some things that happened that I wasn’t too fond of because of the connection to the books, but I have to deal with it.
The ending of the episode also left people hanging – which is good!
Overall, I truly enjoyed Ep7. As I have said before, each episode keeps on getting better and better. The acting is improving, the dialogue is getting a little better and the chemistry between the characters is also getting to where I would like to see it, each episode is better than the last.
