Of Men and Angels:
This episode of Shadowhunters consisted of many flashbacks with the Circle. It gave us insight of who the circle was and what they did, but on how Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) became, the mad person he is.
At the end of Ep5, Luke (Isaiah Mustafa) was badly injured and Ep6 shows the attempt to heal him. And who do Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace (Dominic Sherwood) call? Well none other than the beautiful Magnus Bane.
I really enjoyed this episode, the history with the circle was quite close to how it was explained in the books and I excited about that. However, I didn’t really like the actors/actresses in the flashbacks – lucky we have to see them too much.
The flashbacks were done quite seamlessly and it was easy to tell the difference between the modern time and the past.
We get to see more of Luke’s and Clary’s relationship. Their father/daughter relationship is one of my favourite in the series and probably ever, and we really get to see the start of it in this episode. We see that Luke cares quite a bit for both Clary and her mother.
I adored the banter between Jace and Simon (Alberto Rosende), it is perfect. They have little nibs at each other here and there. There is this whole scene where it’s them having a little spat, but it’s perfect.
I am starting to like Dominic Sherwood as Jace even more as the series goes on. He has always had the looks, but the first few episode his attitude was off, but it in Ep6, he was Jace.
The full Lightwood family make an appearance in this episode including little Max (Jack Fulton) and Robert Lightwood (Paulino Nunes). There is still high tension between Maryse (Nicola Correia-Damude), Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) and even Alec (Matthew Daddario). Maryse is not trusting Isabelle with the family, and Isabelle wants to prove her wrong, while Alec is trying to do what is right.
I loved Max! I it is going to tear my heart apart if they do what happens in the books – but it has to happen. But oh he was gorgeous and so Max (Without the glasses). The relationship between him and both Alec and Isabelle was too damn adorable.
In Ep6 we also get to see some more Alec and Magnus and gosh they are going to kill me. They are both just so perfect for their characters and together.
The graphics in Ep6 were better than pervious episodes, but they are still quite poor. I wish they would get better, because they can make or break a show.
Overall, I enjoyed this episode a lot. It gave us more about the history of the circle, which we didn’t previously know much about, more about Luke, Valentine and Jocelyn. This episode is full of banter between; everyone and it just made the episode that much more enjoyable, it is probably my favourite episode of Shadowhunters so far, and I hope that each episode grows from here.
