Raising Hell:
Episode 4 begins back at the institute with Clary (Katherine McNamara) having a nightmare of when her memories were taken.
I am starting to like Katherine as Clary more as each episode goes on and on. She is starting to ‘fit’ more and it’s nice to see her grow. The chemistry between Clary and Jace (Dominic Sherwood) is also starting to build and become more believable and not cringe worthy. We also get to see a shirtless Jace training – and why not.
In Ep4 we also see the tension starting to build between Clary and Simon (Alberto Rosende). We start to see that Simon loves Clary a lot and she only thinks of him as a friend. On the other hand we also see that Simon is very stubborn, Clary just wants to help her mum and the Shadowhunters are the only people who can help her at the moment and he cannot see that.
However I do love the snide remarks Simon has towards Jace and the other shadowhunters, put a real smile on my face.
For the first time in the series, we get to see Simon’s house and room. He goes there after leaving the institute. Maureen (Shailene Garnett) makes an appearance and there is a slight hint of foreshadowing. Simon’s mum also appears in Ep4 and I actually liked her and not looking forward to things that are coming.
The thing that we have been waiting for. Magnus (Harry Shum Jr) and Alec (Matthew Daddario) finally meet! They had me screaming internally, because they were so good together! I loved Magnus’ little side remarks, some were so cute and the faces that Alec pulls just had me smiling like no tomorrow. We start to see the spark between the two and I truly enjoyed it.
However we also see Alec shut down. There is a scene that happens in this episode that brings to light Alec’s sexuality and it seems he is the only one not taking it well and it broke my heart I want everything to be okay.
I feel the fight scenes are becoming better as the season goes on and I hope that they are perfected soon, because you know – big battles and all.
While we are talking about shadowhunters. I need to rant about something. I am seeing many comments about how it’s different from the books, how people are not going to keep on watching because it’s different and I need to say something before I explode.
It’s very, very hard to adapted a book to a TV Series, love at The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and The 100. You see parts of the book in them, but that is it. It is annoying me the comments that I am seeing that just complain. I haven’t seen a group of people complain more in my life. It’s crazy what people are saying.
Yes, it’s not like the books, however I do see the books in the TV Series. It’s in the characters look, in the sets, in how the characters act, and in some of the scenes. The essence of the book is there and with each episode it is starting to come out. Also the first book was set during a time line of just over a week, how is a 13 episode series supposed to be set over a week. Everything would be so slow. So by them adding and changing things makes total sense.
Overall, I enjoyed Ep4, I cannot wait to see more of Clary and Jace and Magnus and Alec. I feel that both relationships are going to grow as the season goes on, I like each episode more and more as we go through the season and I do hope it continues, because I do want to see more.
Have you watched Ep4? Did you enjoy it? Are you going to watch more? Did you like the interaction between Magnus and Alec?
